my 3rd time in London
The first time I came in early October 2005, before I flew down to Thailand and started my country visits. I made a short visit of 2 days. Though it was a big rush but I liked London in terms of having everything: parks, museums, touristy sites, business districts, great shopping, etc. But I could not understand the English accent - how funny! I realized that living in Rotterdam blocked my ears from listening because I do not understand Dutch. I stopped listening everywhere else!
The second time I came was one month ago, after living in Stockholm for 6 months. I found London so hectic, so crowded and so dirty! I got a bit scared of myself, born and brought up in Shanghai, always loved chaotic places, could not stand London?! See how much Stockholm has grown on me. Nevertheless, I loved the diversity London offers, compared to Stockholm of course, in terms of fashion, cuisine, entertainment, etc.! Sometimes I feel funny how individualistic Swedes are, yet they make or are offered same/limited choices, which made me (a Chinese, hehe...) appreciate diversity so much out of a sudden.
This is my third time in London. I felt hesitated to come feeling how chaotic the city is, in contrast to my predictable life in Stockholm. I got a bit exhausted taking tubes and meeting people back to back. But I also feel extremely calm and pleasant reading a book, sipping some tea, sitting at Taco&Manish's balcony yard. I see London can offer both - peace and excitement! I can visualize myself pursuing a career and having my expat life here now. Hehe...Though I have not yet cracked in anywhere.
Let's see where I move with my career after Stockholm!
